What is Take Off into Travel?
The travel industry can be exciting - international travel, exotic locations and new experiences can be yours. Take Off into Travel is a short online course that will give you a good understanding of the travel industry and how it works.
This course answer many questions you may have - what exactly is the Travel Industry? Who works in it? Where do they work? What do they actually do? Why do people travel? Where do they go? What do they buy?
What the course covers
The course will help you to correctly identify sources of information on the tourism industry. You will learn about the industry sectors and companies, what the employees of the various industry companies do, how to source information about the companies and current industry personnel. How to keep your new knowledge current and up to date. In addition, understand where the employment opportunities lie … a must for industry beginners and those considering a career in travel!

Key Areas of Learning

- Learn to correctly identify sources of information on the tourism industry including the impacts of tourism, different tourism markets, the industry sectors and their services, major tourism bodies, environmental issues,
- Learn about career opportunities , industrial relations, legal and ethical issues and obligations, work organisation and time management, quality assurance,
- The growing importance of e-business.
- Learn how to update tourism industry knowledge, to monitor current issues of concern to the industry and share updated industry knowledge with clients and colleagues.
Online Delivery
After your enrolment is processed, a username (your e-mail address) and an allocated student ID will give you access to the course which is delivered entirely online. The course is divided into sections, each section is broken into Topics (9) and Quizzes (5). It is important to take each quiz as the questions reinforce the learning process and help you to remember the key learning points. You should complete the material within one month for maximum retention but you have access to the material until your hours expire or 3 months after registration at which time your access will expire. You may also purchase additional block hours (for example 5 or 10) if you want to revise the material again in the future. PREREQUISITES
There is no prerequisite knowledge required for this course.
PC and keyboard skills are however, considered necessary for travel industry employment. To improve keyboard skills why not take a Typequick course?.
ASSESSMENTS
Progressive online assessment is inbuilt into the programme and a final industry focused assignment is e-mailed to the Tutor Centre.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Hayton College courses are accessed from a computer using the internet.
Minimum system requirements are:

- Recommended Pentium 4 or higher computer with 256mb RAM
- Monitor at 1024 x 768 resolution or higher
