According to The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS figures 2007) the Tourism Industry contributes $81 billion dollars to the Australian economy from inbound overseas travellers (20.5 billion) and Australian domestic travellers (60.5 billion) and 464,500 people work in this dynamic industry.
Remember, “tourism” includes the “hospitality” and “travel” sectors of the market.

- Retail travel agencies: like those in your local shopping centre

- Corporate travel companies: these companies make travel arrangements for businesses and their employees
- Cruise lines: for example P & O
- Car rental companies: like Avis or Hertz
- Hotel reservations and representation companies
